The first female ruler of the Korean peninsula. She never married and made the arrangement for her niece to succeed her throne before her death.

Reigning in the transition from Bronze Age into Iron Age, she made a proclamation to put aside a portion of iron production for farming equipment, instead of weaponry.

She discovered many talented officials regardless of their births. 

It is believed that her benevolence planted the patriotism that laid the foundation for Shilla's unification of the peninsula defeating two larger kingdoms.

She recorded and arranged all different ancient martial arts as a training manual for her royal guards called 'Hwarang.' The manual became the core foundation of modern day's Taekwondo.

It is recorded that she predicted the date and time of her death.
